Presentation: Planning for Resilient, Safe & Secure Schools

September 19, 2019

TASA/TASB Free Extra Credit Session – How your facilities can aid the safety and security of your students and staff

A robust facility planning process can help create safe schools for our students and teachers. How can your facilities aid (or hinder) the safety and security of your students? How can we design resilient facilities that better withstand to that next big storm? In this session Stantec Senior Project Architect, Daniel Dain, AIA, LEED AP BD+C and Stantec Senior Design Architect, Diego Barrera, AIA, ALEP, LEED Green Associate, explore the variety of threats schools face, from man-made to natural threats. They identify a process to discover what hazards are more relevant to your community, and discuss how to engage stakeholders to create facilities that enhance student safety and security.
