A design-build solution replaces an 82-year old bridge in Washington’s Cascade Mountains in just 17 days
The Washington State Department of Transportation needed a solution to replace an aging bridge on US 12, one of just three routes across the Cascade Mountains. Richard Patterson, Stantec transportation principal based in Bellevue, Washington, led the team that provided that innovative solution—a precast arch culvert rather than the standard WSDOT girder bridge.
The solution fast-tracked the Wildcat Creek Bridge project and minimized impacts to traffic, the community, and the environment. Richard writes about the project in the April 2019 issue of Roads & Bridges.
