How “sweating the system” with smart analytics modeling and TOTEX planning can deliver fit-for-purpose solutions, capital cost savings, and system optimization

In an article for Civil + Structural Engineer Magazine, Melissa Carter and Nick Anderson explore wet weather infrastructure and the benefit of smart modeling and TOTEX planning in delivering capital cost savings and system optimization. The piece focuses on our work on the Narragansett Bay Combined Sewer Overflow Program, one of the largest CSO projects in the Northeast and the largest public works project in Rhode Island history, where the team was able to deliver an improved solution at a capital cost savings of $60 million.

With more than 20 years of experience, Melissa Carter has worked on a range of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Her focus is currently on wet weather-related projects to reduce or eliminate sewer overflows that impact the water quality of natural waterways.
