Stantec’s Jo Kelsey reflects on the water industry’s ambition to embrace digital solutions to improve performance and delivery of outcomes

 

Digital solutions are cited in many UK water company PR19 business plans as a key enabler to meeting AMP7 performance commitments, and there is little doubt that the potential impact of digital in the industry is significant and impacts on many aspects of business operation.

For the water industry the current wave of digital technology transformation relates more to the level of sophistication of digital platforms, cloud-based technologies and capabilities to process large volumes of data.  

The water industry needs to rise to the challenge of embracing digital technology - successfully.

In this Institute of Water magazine article, Stantec’s Jo Kelsey reflects on how people, not technologies, are the key to successful delivery of digital solutions. A re-evaluation of the way that the water industry approaches projects involving digital technology would yield improved, long term success.
