With 50 million students attending 10,000 public schools, understanding how design can positively impact students and improve their learning is important. At the 2018 National School Boards Association Annual Conference, our team of architects, researchers, and educators will share what they’ve learned about school design and student engagement from the 3-year study they’ve done in partnership with several districts.

Stantec senior design architect Diego Barrera and principal Trey Laird are joined by Dr. Xuemei Zhu, associate professor for the Department of Architecture and Center for Health Systems & Design at Texas A&M University, to share research results that support why you should consider design elements, from learner-centric environments, to flexible spaces that accommodate learning styles, and providing flexibility for different learning settings. Learn how other districts have made these changes to their facilities, and how they have positively impacted student engagement, and enhanced learning outcomes.
