Ervin Deck

Associate, Senior Aviation Planner

Photo of Ervin

Erv has been an air traffic controller, university professor, airport manager, and pilot. With 45 years in aviation, he’s achieved single-engine, multi-engine, and instrument ratings. He’s an active flight instructor, and he’s got over 5,000 hours of pilot in command time.

Most recently, Erv prepared an airport master plan for the town of Plymouth, New Hampshire. The community was thinking about becoming part of the US national airport system, and this master plan is the first step toward helping them decide. “This project allowed me to focus on two things I love about my work: fostering aviation and raising public awareness about the value of aviation.”

One of Erv’s key values is presentation. “Anyone can learn the ins and outs of airport planning, but if you can’t present your work to the public with confidence and conviction, it will all be in vain.”

Outside of work, Erv likes to read about US history—particularly the years leading up to and during the Revolutionary War period. If it’s summer, you’ll find him in his garden, if he’s not out flying, that is.
